Things to see and do

Did you know that Bradford on Avon has one of the oldest Saxon churches in the country and a huge stone medieval tithe barn. You can easily walk to these gems in a few minutes from The Stables BnB. Or perhaps take a walk along the the nearby canal or riverside to Avoncliff to see its impressive viaduct, where the canal crosses the river Avon and the railway. While you are there you could have a drink or lunch at the Cross Guns pub and when its time to come back either walk, or catch a train at Avoncliff halt (station) and ride back, or perhaps take the train the other way into Bath for dinner.

The National Trust's Great Chalfield Manor and Farleigh Hungerford Castle are both within a 10 minute drive and if golf is your thing Cumberwell Park's four courses are just the other side of town.

The pretty village of Lacock is 20 minutes by car and here you can see not just the Abbey and the Fox Talbot museum but also houses made famous by the Harry Potter films. The famous village of Castle Combe is a 30 minute drive away.

Bradford on Avon town is filled with shops, places to eat and drink and things to see, but you won't find any big brands or chain shops (except Sainsbury's, which is tucked away just a pretty 10 minute walk away).
